Chevron Design Friendship Bracelet

A really easy and simple way to make a friendship bracelet besides braiding is the chevron design, or if you’re more into hair styles it may be better recognized as a fishtail braid. It’s a lot of fun to make, takes time and patience, but I assure you once you get the hang of it, it will be a breeze. All you need for this is of course the string color of your choice, I recommend a minimum of four colors will be good and a maximum of six to seven. In the blue one I have posted above I used I believe five colors and in the red, yellow, green one I used four colors. As you can see the more colors you use the thicker it will be. The amount of string that you’ll want to use is quite a bit, I didn’t measure exactly how much but it was more than what I would usually use on other bracelets. But if you’re one who is particular about measurements, I would estimate about a foot in a half to two feet per string length, and I have particularly smaller wrists so it may vary person to person.

So after cutting out your length of string as well as picking out your selected colors, cut some more string of the same length and the same color out so that you will have double the amount of string.

Pull the strings together by both ends making sure that they are equal on both sides.

at the other end of the string, around the middle arch and form it into a loop. Form another loop and pull the top part of the string through the newly created loop and secure it to a knot.

(Sorry this picture is sideways) Tape the loop down on to whatever surface and separate your strings, make sure that the same color of strings are all together and the order of the strings on both sides are the same.

The beginning is kinda hard to start off but once you get a couple of rows going, then things will get easier and look better. This is where the ‘fishtail’ part of this comes in or the chevron design. Start out by taking the top color and moving it to the opposite side for both strings and repeat.

Once your finished tie a knot at the end big enough so that it will go through the loop and secure your bracelet from falling off. Mine turned out pretty well, and best of luck for yours!
